Winter
Altenmarkt is home to the former world champion downhill racer Michael Walchhofer. Along with Zauchensee the area is snow sure providing a fantastic ski season experience from early December to late April. It has an extensive ski range with a modern lift system and many snow cannons on pistes if required.
The level of ski instruction is noted for its extremely high standards and guarantees enjoyable development for all levels of skiers.
Inter Sport is a 2
minutes walk across the road from the apartment. The friendly and well
qualified staff will be able to provide good ski advice and give excellent rental equipement for both winter and summer activities
Evening toboggan runs in Altenmarkt (highly recommended for some snow fun!) You can visit mountain huts where you can enjoy a few drinks before hurtling down a floodlit toboggan run.
Sleigh rides in the pretty town of Filzmoos & Altenmarkt. Each sleigh ride last two hours and they are also available in the day for those looking for a rest from all the skiing.

Lifts
The area invests heavily in its lift systems to ensure they are some of the most modern in the world. Lifts are all Cable cars and chairs, with the main chairs all 8 man, covered with heated seats. Queuing is virtually unknown in the area.
Snow Sure
The area boasts a 100% guarantee of skiing throughout the season. Due to topography , this is nearly always from mother nature, but on the rare occasion this is not enough there is 80% coverage from snow canons on the slopes
Ski Schools
A private ski school system is run in Austria and as such there is plenty of choice and prices remain competitive. All schools offer English speaking teachers and cater for all abilities.
Catering/Apres Ski
The mountains are dotted with traditional mountain chalets catering for all. Food and drinks are extremely reasonable priced. At the end of hard days skiing the bars remain open allowing you to relax and enjoy the famous apres ski.
